ActivityHero’s Best of 2021 Awards Showcase 38 Parent-Approved Programs Nationwide.
During the last year, kids activity providers faced challenges such as physical location shutdowns, cancellations, staffing shortages, limited enrollment, and more. Some programs moved online and adapted curriculum to reach students at home, while others created small pods and new safety protocols.
Only 38 businesses were recognized as a Best of Award Winner, out of 459 total nominees nationwide. The final awards were based on the number of votes, reviews and overall rating from families in 2021.
The top finalists were:
New York Chess Academy (1st)
Future Bytes Tech (2nd)
Mohr’s Explorers (3rd -tie)
Nimmy’s Art (3rd – tie)

“My five year old loves chess and loves coach Philip. We had trial class with another school before we had our trial with coach Philip and from the first minute I knew he was amazing and NYCA is the right choice,” said Tamar Hovsepian.
2nd place finalist, Future Bytes Tech, is transforming creative young minds into Innovators and Makers by offering coding curriculum for Grades K-8, specializing in Robotics and Electronic circuits. Kids can learn math, practice coding languages, and face fun challenges with their friends. Future Bytes Tech offers both in-person camps in Santa Clara, CA, and live, online programs.
“My son had a brilliant experience working through a bunch of different STEM and coding activities in this center. In his own words that this was the ‘best summer camp’ he has ever been to,” said Surabhi Ahuja.

They utilize various confidence-building games and activities containing elements of hiking, climbing, fort building, bird identification, basic wilderness survival and more.
“Mohrs Explorers is an incredible program. Every week our son came home happy and excited to share what he had experienced during his hours immersed in nature with the fantastic Mohrs counselors and friends. He made forts out of branches, played outdoor games, explored the woods, learned to identify trees and birds, learned to look and really see wildlife and signs of the seasons,” said Alexandra Ketcham.
Nimmy’s Art, 3rd place (tie), provides online art classes and summer camps for ages 5-12 with award-winning artist, Nimmy Melvin.
“My son, Gaurang has been attending Nimmy’s art classes since the beginning of 2021, and I am so happy with the progress he has made in the various mediums of art. He has developed a keen interest in drawing/painting and eagerly looks forward to the sessions,” said Asha Agarwal.
